The Orange and Blue Debut will again be the centerpiece of a crowded weekend.

The Florida Gators will play the 2019 edition of the Orange and Blue Game — apparently, Florida is either eschewing the traditional Orange and Blue Debut name for the program’s spring game, or had someone unaware of that name preparing a release — on Saturday, April 13, 2019, the program announced Tuesday.

The game will once again be the heart of what Florida is dubbing We Chomp Weekend, in which a slew of spring sports are hosting events in Gainesville.

“What an exciting weekend this will be for Gator Nation,” Coach Dan Mullen said. “I can’t wait for our staff and players to be back home in The Swamp.”

Notably, Florida’s baseball, lacrosse, and men’s and women’s tennis teams will be playing in Gainesville over the three-day weekend spanning from April 12 to April 14.

This is actually a more sedate weekend for Florida’s spring game than some of recent memory, as the Gators have occasionally staged it on days coinciding with the Florida Relays and on weekends with both baseball and softball teams in town.

Kickoff time for the spring game is yet to be determined, but Florida’s explanation...

More details on the events surround the game and that weekend will be released at a later date after plans are finalized.

...suggests to me that efforts will be made to spotlight the spring game while also potentially staggering traffic and parking concerns around overlapping football and baseball crowds.
