So there are a couple of big football games today.
I’ve been ... uh, not great at getting up daily bowl open threads for this bowl season, but LSU meeting Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl and Clemson taking on Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl is, of course, not your average day of bowl games.
This isn’t the Tony the Tiger Bowl, after all.
Florida’s fortunes probably aren’t impacted significantly by any result in these games — what, is LSU going to keep more great Louisiana players in state? Are there more Bosas for Ohio State to extract from St. Thomas Aquinas? — so you’re probably okay to root for teams based on personal taste.
For me, that’s going to mean rooting for Ohio State and Oklahoma, because I really can’t stand Dabo Swinney and think LSU’s revival under Ed Orgeron is a little too ballyhooed for my liking. Plus, Ryan Day and Lincoln Riley haven’t done totally that many totally awful things in the name of winning football games.
Yet.
Anyway: Peach Bowl’s on ESPN at 4, Fiesta Bowl follows at 8, and I’ll be trying hard to get to Publix and some point during the former.
Happy chatting, friends.
