2019 NCAA Tournament, Day 2 open thread: All roads lead to Zion

You know what’s better than a day of the NCAA Tournament in which your team is playing? A day when it isn’t.

At least, uh, if you are maybe the kind of person whose stomach knots with anxiety about your team’s fate. Not that I know anyone like that!

In any case: Thursday was Florida’s day, as far as I’m concerned, and now Friday is the field’s day. It’s also my day, because I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to write about the Gators or whether I’m wrong about the preview or the analysis proffered: I can just watch good basketball teams and good basketball players play basketball.

And for me, that’s often enough — even if there aren’t upsets that run counter to conventional wisdom or dramatic moments worth remembering forever over the course of a given day. (The closest we got to something unforgettable was Auburn playing the final minute of a game while seemingly actively trying to lose a lead, with New Mexico State only failing to accede to that demand because of some poor shooting.)

And you know what? If nothing else, this day has Zion Williamson.

I like watching Zion Williamson.
