Pete Alonso crushes another clutch homer: The Mets were tied with the Padres in the top of the ninth on Tuesday night ... and then Pete came to bat, and turned a 2-2 count into a two-run lead with a mammoth shot to left.

Alonso having to look back at his bat flip because he doesn’t know his own strength was adorable, but his strength is one of the stories of this MLB season, and that homer, his 11th of the year, was part of a 3-for-5 night that was a nice response to an 0-for-8 start to the Mets’ series in San Diego. And if you would like to rep Alonso in Florida colors and support a fellow SB Nation blog with the initials AA, Mets blog Amazin Avenue has a Polar Bear Pete shirt on sale for you. (Robert Wolff, Amazin Avenue | Amazin Avenue)
Florida baseball holds off USF: The Gators got five shutout innings from freshman starter Nick Pogue in his first start and a three-strikeout save from fellow freshman Ben Specht in a 7-3 win over the Bulls. The win runs Florida’s non-conference record to an impressive 20-6, avenges the Gators’ first loss of the year, and might be a pick-me-up after a dismal sweep at the hands of Georgia last weekend. (Daniel Apple, Florida Gators)
Florida women’s golf in fine position at NCAA Regionals: The Gators sat one shot off the lead held by Texas and five shots clear of third place Purdue entering Wednesday’s final round of play in Norman, and need only to finish within the top six to make the cut for the NCAA Championships. (Lucy Berres, Florida Gators)
Reflecting on 30 years of Mick Hubert: Kinda crazy to think I’ve never known another voice of the Gators. (Chris Harry, Florida Gators)
