Chomping at Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find, and maybe some other stuff. It runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. Eastern.
Four-star 2021 Georgia wideout Daejon Reynolds picks Florida: Color me a little skeptical that an out-of-state player making a commitment during the week of National Signing Day a year prior to his own sticks with that commitment for the whole year. If he sticks, though, Reynolds fits the Dan Mullen/Billy Gonzales mold at wideout on frame alone, standing 6’2” and weighing in at around 200 pounds. (Andrew Spivey, Gator Country | Chad Simmons, Rivals)
Where the nation’s top teams stand on National Signing Day eve: Florida is No. 7, but poised to land at least one major commitment and vie for a few others. (Brian Dohn, 247Sports)
Hype and hysteria starting early: Florida fans can’t really predict improvement without also projecting a College Football Playoff trip, in fairnes ... but Florida fans also anointed this year’s men’s basketball team a Final Four contender at around this time last year. We do tend to get ahead of ourselves. (Pat Dooley, The Gainesville Sun)
Junior starters set to anchor Gators: Jack Leftwich and Tommy Mace were inconsistent at best in 2019, and it wouldn’t be a stunner if one or both lost a spot in Florida’s weekend rotation this year simply because of how much pitching talent is behind them. So this sort of rah-rah article in advance of the season from the team itself is interesting. (Zach Seifter, Florida Gators)
Florida tennis visiting Michigan: The picture that headlines this article is junior McCartney Kessler in a long-sleeve tee and a tennis skirt — not totally unusual tennis apparel, though the long sleeves are probably more uncommon than not. But the high in Ann Arbor today is 35 degrees! Do you break out leggings or full-on pants in that weather? Does it matter if you’re playing inside or outside? (Sam Stolte, Florida Gators)
