Nike drops the new Air Zoom Pegasus 37 Florida shoe

It’s the best set of Florida Nikes in years — by a mile.

The recent history of Florida Gators-branded shoes available to the public has been surprisingly mixed, especially for an athletic program with a Jordan Brand deal and a history with Nike.

Yes, Js in Gators livery have been fire from basically the moment the deal was announced, but those largely haven’t been made available to the public — and what has been put on sale has been hit or miss. 2019’s React Element shoes? Comfortable, I’m told, but not exactly gorgeous. The 2019 Air Zoom Pegasus 36s? A bit too dark to feel like real Gators shoes, I think. You’d have to go back to 2016 or 2015 to find some really great Florida shoes for men, I’d argue, though women got some nice trainers in the midst of all this.

That all ends today with the release of the Air Zoom Pegasus 37s, which are both the best design in half a decade and available for men and women as a unisex shoe.

The crisp white body and a nice unfinished blue-outlined swoosh put these on my personal buy list, and the accents are close to perfect, from the Gator Head on the exterior heels to the orange laces with blue eyelets that really pop over a white tongue.

It should really be this easy for Nike to drop excellent team-colored shoes every year — but, for whatever reason, the Swoosh folks don’t. And so, if you’ve been hankering for a new pair to wear and show your Florida fandom, it think it should really be an easy call for you to buy these before they sell out.
