There are so, so, so many things in the world that probably deserve your attention right now — not just in sports, where a continued tide of player empowerment seems likely to help wash out the 2020 college football season and dredge up skeletons that more than a few people in power would rather stay submerged, but in politics and so forth — that it seems silly to note a coming change to commenting at Alligator Army as big news.
But, well, it’s going to be: SB Nation is converting the current commenting platform that you know well and generally seem to like to a new one, called Coral, that I frankly don’t like nearly as much.
It’s already in effect at Arrowhead Pride, Blogging the Boys, and a couple other NFL blogs, and my sense from reading the comments — which now default to newest first, rather than the reverse chronological order that you know well and that works well — is that it is not being well-received at present.
That doesn’t mean it won’t change, or have functionalities like the much-loved ability to press Z and get to the latest unread comment added on at some point. But this change is coming and there’s really not much I or any other team site leader could do about it — and so I want to warn you about it while it’s still coming down the pike.
Beyond that, though: What’s up? On my end, I’ve got a recruiting roundup piece in the works, something longish on the #WeAreUnited movement and its ripples, and I’m hoping to get a couple of new weekly posts hammered out in the next couple of days — but, yeah, I’m still dealing with significant pain and a lack of mobility at the moment, and I may need to go seek medical help again, so I really can’t make promises right now.
I hope you understand — and, if you’re feeling like you might want to help out, that you go check out our still-active help wanted ad. I’ve gotten a couple of messages that seem promising, and will be getting back to people this week.
